30 years of never-ending illnesses now gone

Here is the story of Mr Vishwamohan from Andhra Pradesh, India, who suffered from chronic diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiac problems and ultimately diabetic neuropathy for over 30 years and had almost given up on life.

Today Mr Vishwamohan feels healthier than he has in his entire life. He firmly believes that laughter helped him rejuvenate and nurtured him to good health.

He had a bypass surgery for his heart problem in 1999 but still had to endure other health complications.

Disillusioned with constant medication and rising stress levels he decided to adopt an alternative method to help him feel better.

This started with joining his local Laughter Club in Vijayawada, in January 2002.

And then gradually his life underwent a remarkable change. His health improved and his ECG, BP and blood sugar levels stabilized.

Today Mr Vishwamohan feels healthier than he has in his entire life. He firmly believes that laughter yoga helped him rejuvenate and nurtured him back to good health.

Diabetes: mirthful laughter raises good cholesterol, lowers inflammation

Lee Berk, DrPH, MPH, a preventive care specialist and psychoneuroimmunologist, of Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, CA, has paired with Stanley Tan, MD, PhD an endocrinologist and diabetes specialist at Oak Crest Health Research Institute, Loma Linda, CA, to examine the effect of “mirthful laughter” on individuals with diabetes. Diabetes is a metabolic syndrome characterized by the risk of heart attack, blindness and other neurological, immune and blood vessel complications. They found that mirthful laughter, as a preventive adjunct therapy in diabetes care, raised good cholesterol and lowered inflammation.
