Pranayama is a fundamental part of Laughter Yoga (although I prefer to refer to what we do as pranayahahama). According to yogic philosophy, we are alive because the cosmic energy from the universe flows into our body through our breath. It is referred to as life force or “prana”. The very essence of our life is breathing. Due to stress and negative emotions, our breathing becomes irregular and shallow, thus affecting the flow of prana through our body.

Laughter is one way to address this problem, and there is more.

The regular practice of Pranayama exercises is advised for all serious Laughter Yoga practitioners. It’s a powerful way to balance energies and prevent burnout.
